Small but Still Good.
The first thing you should know when you go speaker shopping is that there is a lot of crap in the market, but sometimes you’ll find the hidden gems. That’s why we took the time to do the research and find those god-like speakers that you might have missed otherwise. We understand that not everyone has the time to sit down and do the research which is why we compiled this hopefully useful guide! Long story short, what we found for the best 4-inch car speakers is that the Morel Maximo 4C gets the job done.
Why Get a 4 Inch Speaker
Go big or go home right? Well, not always the case. If you’re not too big on music in your car, you should do fine with 4 inches. Additionally, if you are in a tight car and can’t pack a full blown subwoofer a 4 inch is probably the best solution for that. More-ever what we found is that these models are considerably cheaper than what you would pay for a subwoofer or even a speaker for so if the price is an issue, these are the solution!
#1 Morel Maximo 4C
At the number one pick is the Maximo 4C, after ranking Pioneer so highly in so many of our guides – we were a bit shocked over shelves that a company like Morel overtook their spot. But make no mistake, Morel is a company in the car audio industry that prides themselves in engineering top tier audio products, and that’s what they’ve provided.
The only problem we had with the Maximo 4C is that they were not as loud as some of the other picks on this list. We understand that it couldn’t have it all which is why we still gave it a pass regarding ranking it so highly. But it made up for its weaker sound by having a much crisp and clear audio. But aren’t all the other speakers as crisp and clear as well? Not quite. What we found is that when you turn the volume all the way up, when all the other speakers start getting static and having audio that is under what we would consider “acceptable,” the Maximo 4C still made sure that it was producing the clean sound that would provide for a pleasant car ride.
Now regarding it’s bass, we found that it has a subtle bass but its highs and mids were considerably better than its peers. On a final note, we would like to add that the Maximo 4Cs are a bit deeper than what an “average” speaker would provide so you should make modifications to your vehicle if that will be a problem (most people don’t find it a problem!)
#2 Pioneer TS-D1002R
If our main pick is out of stock we recommend getting the TS-D1002R instead – we didn’t rank it number one, but that does not take away from the fact that it is still a great speaker set. Plus, it wouldn’t be a complete car audio guide if Pioneer wasn’t on the list right?
This is a Pioneer product so firsthand that should tell you how well engineered this product is. Regarding sound, what we found is that the TS-D1002R has a nice balance in it’s highs and mids which make a considerable difference if you are an audiophile.
Another thing that we noticed is that these speakers are a bit smaller than the normal 4-inch speakers – this is great if you are in a compact vehicle although we don’t think it’ll make too big of a difference. Another thing that we’ve noticed is that it runs on a low power setup – sadly you won’t be able to make too many gains on the unit itself otherwise you risk blowing it out.
#3 BOSS AUDIO BRS40
If you’re in a money pinch and need an inexpensive 4-inch car speaker, we highly recommend getting the BOSS AUDIO BRS40. Now we were a bit shocked ourselves on how cheap this speaker unit was. For under 20 dollars, you are getting something that you can use for the time being and then when you decide to make the jump, you can just upgrade without feeling that you’ve wasted too much money.
Another thing that we loved the BRS40 for is the fact that they make an excellent replacement part if you’ve accidentally blown a speaker out. Even compared to the regular stock and factory speaker that you get when you buy a car – these BRS40 are miles better regarding audio and quality – and you get all of that at an affordable price.
Who’s the BRS40 for? Well if you are in need of speakers for your car and need something that is extremely cheap, we suggest that you pick these up. Even if they aren’t on sale, you can pick these up for a considerably lower price than a pair of headphones, think about that, you are getting speakers for the price of a headphone!
Wrapping it up
