For the smaller speaker needs.
We looked around for the best 3.5 speakers and what we found is that the Pioneer TS-A878 – praised highly by many fans across the nation, what we loved about these speakers is that they are perfect if you are starting out or replacing your stock speakers. They’re intuitive to setup and don’t cost a fortune – what more could you ask for? Pick up the Pioneer TS-A878 today!
Which size speakers should I get?
As cliché as it might sound, it really depends on your needs. As you may know, speakers can range anywhere from 3 inches all the way up to 6 inches. Whether you ride in a truck or a Honda Acorda, that may influence you decision. You obviously don’t want something too big if you are in a small vehicle but if audio is that important, then you would make space for it.
What we recommend is that you start small and upgrade as you see fit. Get a 3.5 and if you need something bigger, work your way up. What we found is that these 3.5 speakers are found in the dashboards of people’s vehicles. On the other hand, if you need just need speakers to complement your side doors, then these might be the perfect pick given how small these are.
#1 Pioneer TS-A878
At number one is the Pioneer TS-A878 – if we had to pick out the best 3.5 speaker on the market, it would have to be the TS-A878 because it is just that freaking good. It would be an injustice if we had a audio guide without a single Pioneer product and the TS-A878 is no excpetion. If you take a quick glance at it, you’ll notice why these speakers are ranked so highly in their niche – an aesthcially pleasing design coupled with amazing specs? Yes please.
If we went over everything the TS-A878 it might take us too long so we’ll just go over some of the highlights. It’s engineered with a top of the line range of frequency: from 60 – 28,000 Hertz, it’s got one of the widest frequencies that we could find on the market. Another thing is the 88 dB that comes on the A878. It’s got the specs down, what is it missing?
If we had to pinpoint one flaw with the TS-A878 it would be the tweeter protrusion would be one that we wrote down. The design of it looks great in all, but all things considered if you have a small vehicle those tweeters might be a problem. Other than that, we thought the Ts-A878 would be a fantastic pick for both newcomers and audiophiles alike – if you need a 3.5 speaker, pick up the Pioneer today!
#2 Kicker 40CS354
If our main pick is out of stock we recommend getting the Kicker 40CS354 – the Kicker even looks very similar to our main pick beside the fact that it has a greyish border. What we loved about the 40CS354 is that the people at Kicker gave it enough peak power that it could do everything you need it to!
One thing that really set the Kicker apart from its peers is the fact that it is extremely easy to setup and mount on your car. In fact, we imagine you could do it without the installation guide but if you do need some help, there are plenty of Youtube videos online that will guide you through the whole process.
Because the Kicker is optimized to fit in any car – it can fit in any car. (We had to double check that sentence). The reduced-depth baskets on the Kicker all you to put in your car and mini-van. Don’t worry about the size! So if you are in a compact vehicle, the Kicker is made just for you.
What we found is that these pair of 3.5 speakers preform extremely well when it comes to hitting those mids and highs. The precise specs on the Kicker is that it can handle 30 watts and a peak power of 90 watts. (Not too bad!)
One of the potential downside that we found with the Kicker is its narrow frequency limits. However, do not fret – instead it is compenstated with a decent bass so if you are jamming out to some Hip-Hop or rock, you’ll feel the difference.
#3 Kenwood KFC-835C
If you are on a budget we recommend getting the Kenwood KFC-835c, this is the perfect 3.5 speaker if you are in a money pinch.
Now you may have heard about this company, Kenwood around but they are another top brand in the car audio industry. They currently have a bunch of products out but what we focused on was their 3.5s.
The KFC-835C are designed for dash and pillar installations. The dash mount allows you to fit the KFC-835C in even the smallest compact spaces. If you currently have some stock factory speakers, the KFC-835C would be the optimal next upgrade.
We can’t say you should stick with these your whole life but these certainly are a great starting point. Pick em’ up and see how you like them. If you like them, great, stick with them. But for a small price and for you to test them, it should be no problem if you want to upgrade to either our main pick or runner up. Either way, it’s a small enough investment that you won’t lose much, so pick up the KFC-835C today!
Wrapping it up
In this guide we went over some of the top 3.5 speakers that we could find on the market. We started off this guide with a quick brief on whether or not you should get these speakers then we headed into the reviews. We only reviewed 3 products but we thought that a more narrow selection would make your decision a lot easier. Hopefully this guide was of use to you and helped you buy speakers for your car. Best of luck!
